Company/Fleet/Compliance

Fifty years of getting it there.

Everything a buyer or a compliance team needs to sign us off: how the company runs, what the fleet is made of, how drivers are vetted, and who carries the cost when something goes wrong.

Who we are

Independently run, out of West London.

Jump Up has been moving freight for fifty years from a base in Park Royal, North West London. One team takes the call, plans the job and runs the vehicle — there is no franchise network in between.

The operation runs 24 hours a day, 362 days a year. Collections go out across London and the Home Counties, national runs cover Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, and European road freight leaves from the same yard.

Customers come from food and drink manufacturing, wholesale and catering, pharmaceutical, retail and parcel, construction materials, textiles, flowers, bakery, and exhibitions and events. Same fleet, different rules at the door.

The fleet

Eight classes of vehicle. None over five years old.

The right vehicle is the smallest one that does the job — a scooter through the Congestion Charge zone as readily as a 13.6-metre refrigerated trailer.

Ambient and refrigerated

One fleet, both temperatures.

No vehicle in the fleet is over five years old. Refrigerated units run chilled or frozen, and run ambient when the load does not need cooling.

  • AgeFive years is the ceiling, across every class
  • Temperature7.5T through to 13.6m trailers run ambient or refrigerated
  • BackupIf a unit fails mid-run, a standby vehicle is sent and the load is transferred cold
  • HandlingDrivers carry sack trucks and straps, and will take goods into store

Drivers

Vetted before they carry anything of yours.

Every driver is interviewed, background-checked and licence-checked before a first shift. Pharmaceutical work only goes to drivers who have completed GDP training.

A driver using a handheld terminal in the cab

Class 1, Class 2, PCV and multi-drop.

The same pool covers HGV Class 1 and Class 2, PCV, coach and minibus, multi-drop van work and forklift operation. Hire a driver from us and the driver, the vehicle and the insurance come together — by the day, the week or the month.

On contract runs the same driver comes back to your site, with a named backup driver and a backup vehicle held behind the run.

Interviewed

Face to face, with experience matched to the work — multi-drop, trailer, PCV or forklift. No agency hand-off.

Background checked

Criminal record check, licence check and a National Insurance number on file. A clean licence is a condition of driving for us.

Trained

Driver CPC as standard. GDP training for anyone carrying medication, medical devices, samples or patient records.

Compliance & liability

Who carries what, in writing.

Pharmaceutical work runs on MHRA-standard vehicles with GDP-trained drivers. Employment cost and risk on our drivers sit with us, not with you.

  • GDP-trained drivers — for medication, medical devices, samples and patient records
  • MHRA-standard vehicles — used on pharmaceutical consignments
  • GPS tracking — consignments tracked, with electronic proof of delivery on arrival
  • Employment costs — we carry our drivers' National Insurance, income tax, holiday pay and sick pay
  • Driver hire — driver, vehicle and insurance supplied together, by the day, week or month
